RECYCLING

The production of primary aluminium requires approximately 15 MWh of energy per tonne. Remelting recycled aluminium requires only 0.75 MWh (source: European Aluminium). E-MAX therefore deliberately chooses production based on recycled aluminium. As early as 2007, we invested in our own foundry in Kerkrade for this purpose.

In that foundry, we process used aluminium, such as window and door profiles, in a professional manner into billets. Contaminated profiles are pre-treated to prevent unwanted substances from entering the production process. A fully automatic pre-sorting installation ensures consistent raw material quality.

BILLETS FROM RECYCLED ALUMINIUM

Our billets are equivalent in quality to billets made from primary aluminium. We already consider the end of life of a profile at the design stage: how can the material be optimally reused? This delivers benefits for both CO₂ emissions and raw material efficiency.

The carbon footprint of X-ECO billets is 2.03 tCO₂e per tonne of aluminium, independently verified by DNV. EPDs are available for X-ECO 6060 and X-ECO 6063.
