SUSTAINABILITY AT
E-MAX: MEASURABLE, VERIFIED AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVED

E-MAX produces circular aluminium with a verified low carbon footprint. Our processes focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, maximising recycled material input and using energy efficiently. We continuously invest in measurable improvements and report on them transparently.

SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS THROUGHOUT THE BUSINESS

Sustainable production is not a separate programme at E-MAX — it is embedded in our daily operations. We use recycled aluminium as our primary raw material and generate energy through our own solar and wind installations. Our transport uses Euro-6 vehicles to limit CO₂ emissions during delivery.

We continuously optimise our production processes for energy efficiency and waste reduction. This is confirmed by ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management).

IN CONVERSATION WITH THE CEO FROM E-MAX

Our CEO, Dimitri Fotij, shares his vision on the sustainable growth of E-MAX and the steps E-MAX is taking to reduce CO₂ emissions in the aluminium chain. “Customers are increasingly asking for circular low carbon aluminium to reduce the climate impact of their production,” says Dimitri.

ALUMINIUM AND SUSTAINABILITY: WHAT THE NUMBERS SAY

Remelting aluminium requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminium (source: European Aluminium). Recycling aluminium results in 60 to 80% lower CO₂ emissions compared with primary production, measured on a cradle-to-gate basis (source: European Aluminium).

Aluminium is also virtually infinitely recyclable without loss of quality. Around 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today (source: European Aluminium).

X-ECO: CIRCULAR ALUMINIUM WITH A VERIFIED CO₂ FOOTPRINT

X-ECO is E-MAX’s aluminium alloy with the lowest measured CO₂ footprint: 2.03 tCO₂e per tonne of aluminium, independently verified by DNV based on the applicable verification scope. X-ECO is produced from 80 to 97% recycled post-consumer scrap and meets all European EN standards.

The quality of X-ECO has been confirmed by more than ten years of scientific research by Vrije Universiteit Brussel. This research shows that X-ECO performs equal to or better than primary aluminium on several mechanical properties — a result of the higher concentration of alloying elements in recycled material.
